LANGUAGE & TRANSLATION
Language Diversity in Burnaby
Many different languages are known and spoken by the Burnaby community. English is the most common language, with 93% of the community having knowledge of English, but 61% of Burnaby has at least one other mother tongue.

We want to hear the voices of Burnaby’s diverse language communities through the Burnaby Community Assembly. The Assembly Meetings will be designed with the expectation that many Assembly Members will have a mother tongue besides English, and we will work with Assembly Members to ensure their full participation in the Assembly is accommodated.

Throughout the process, we will also be engaging with the broader Burnaby community. This will include in-person engagements, surveys and this website. We will also be working to ensure we that Burnaby’s diverse language communities have the opportunity to participate in these engagements.

Website Translation Disclaimer
This website has been translated for your convenience using Bablic translation software.
Reasonable efforts have been made to provide an accurate translation; however, no automated translation is perfect nor is it intended to replace human translators. Translations are provided as a service to users of this website and are provided "as is." In some cases, we will also work with multilingual community members to translate materials or surveys. In making these choices, we have focused on maximizing accessibility and inclusion across a wide range of language speakers, rather than focusing on perfect translation for one or two languages.
